Vodafone and Almadar Aljadid, the national Libyan mobile operator, today jointly
announced that they have signed a non‐equity Partner Market agreement. The exclusive
strategic partnership will help both companies to better serve the needs of their respective
customers in the country, including support for the growing number of overseas businesses
looking to establish a presence in Libya.
Under the terms of this agreement, Almadar Aljadid will have exclusive access to
Vodafone’s range of products, devices and services in Libya. Almadar Aljadid also will be
able to draw on Vodafone’s experience in supply chain management, technology
development, the acquisition of enterprise customers from multi‐national companies as
well as improved voice and data roaming services across 67 countries.
In addition, Vodafone will be able to use Almadar Aljadid’s network to offer its customers a
range of services, which utilise ‘home’ network capabilities as well as extended coverage
within Libya. The partnership will also enable multinational companies located outside
Libya and with local operations to meet their needs for unified communications, centralised
customer care and Vodafone services using Almadar Aljadid network.
Commenting on the agreement, Colin MacDougall, Vodafone Partner Markets director for
Africa and the Middle East, said: “We are delighted to partner with Almadar Aljadid in order
to better serve our business customers’ communications requirements as they look to grow
their operations in Libya.”
Underlining the benefits of the partnership, Abdulkhalek Ben Ashuor, Almadar Aljadid ‘s
CEO, said: “The partnership with Vodafone will enable us to offer our customers the chance
of being served by the world’s largest international mobile network, whilst maintaining the
advantages of being a local operator capitalizing on the fact that Almadar owns a
nationwide coverage and prime quality network, thus supporting our prime mission of
best serving the Libyan population. This partnership will bring substantial benefits to our
customers, becoming a catalyst for expanding our service portfolio and improving our
operational efficiency as well as serving our strategic vision of strengthening our
competitive advantage specially in the shadows of the state plans to open up the telecom
sector for foreign investments ”

yes it looks like good news but if almadar will still charge us 10 ld for 24 hours of data and a relatively expensive tarrif for voice communication why should we care furthermore why is the data network so bad i mean we are in the twenty first century and we can provide 7mbps mobile data even egypt has it and it damn cheap there too so are calls and furthermore if they are the first company in libya shouldnt they have already covered their cost so why is it so expensive and if its 10 ld for 24 hours of data what is the benefit am i going to spend 300 ld per month to keep my push mail and my facebook app running.
common you can do it stop depriving us of good and cheap services
