You asked for a guide that cover all internet services available in Libya, for the mean time we will cover ADSL, LibyanaNet, and Libyamax “Wimax”, for this guide to be the ultimate solid reference I am asking you to contribute in comments with anything new or any opinion.
*Libyamax & LibyanaNet comes with a 1 year subscription, ADSL comes with 6 months subscription.
Comparison by speed:

*Speed is not accurate and it depends on network health between you and where you are getting data from.
Note: Speed is different then storage.
Telecommunications bit rates
Bps = 1 bit/s
Kbps = 1.000 bits/s
Mbps = 1.000 Kbits/s or 1.000.000 bits/s
Gbps = 1.000 Mbit/s or 1.000.000.000 bits/s
Tbps = 1.000 Gbit/s or 1.000.000.000.000 bits/sData Storage
Byte = 8 bits
Kilobyte = 1024 bytes or 8192 (8 x 1024) bits
Megabyte = 1024 Kilobytes or 1.048.576 (1024 x 1024) bytes or 8.388.608 bits
Gigabyte = 1024 Megabytes or 1.073.741.824 bytes or 8.589.934.592 bits
Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes or 1.099.511.627.776 bytes or 8.796.093.022.208 bits
These where the charts, and I will let you do more researching and please comment it out to help people decide before buying.

Adding the bandwidth of each provider will provide a better prospective.
October 27th, 2009 at 5:04 AM
Edit: Actually, addint the bandwidth of each service will provide a better prospective.

All I can say is that Internet service is costy in Libya and unrliable not worth paying 20 for ADSL nor 15 for Libyana net.
October 27th, 2009 at 8:57 AM
I will add that.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:00 AM
Thanks so much for the guide Wissam, can you also add the bandwidths of each of the plans? BTW its flooded here in Hay Andalus can't get out in our office I'm stranded =( , guess I'll just wait until the water subsides.

speeds is not true !!
October 27th, 2009 at 5:56 PM
dude u didn't read this ( Speed is not accurate and it depends on network health between you and where you are getting data from. ) and thinking more
October 27th, 2009 at 5:57 PM
You might as well add almadar/libyana gprs (even though you don't pay monthly).
October 27th, 2009 at 7:38 PM
good point, I didn't want to include them as hey are not real internet solutions and nobody really know the speed, it's shared and depends on the users using it.
October 27th, 2009 at 7:47 PM
You can read the note under the comparison
, plus thats why I am asking for your contribution, provide me with numbers.
and about LibyanaNet, 3.6 is true but what you get at home is lower because you are browsing websites in the other end of the world, they give each visitor a limited speed and it doesn't exceed 50kbps in most of the time, nobody reached his speed limit cap unless they are on america or use acceleration by multiplying connection.
but as I said, if you have accurate numbers tell me, we are building a guide not faking it or blaming any company for their bad service.
October 27th, 2009 at 7:53 PM
Good point, can you help us fix it
?
October 28th, 2009 at 1:01 PM
Edit: Wimax buisness has 50% more bandwidth than wimax personal.
October 28th, 2009 at 4:01 PM
The comparison astonishes me. What was the criteria of this study based on.
I am standing here in shock of those numbers….
Good job Wissam, but where did you get the speed numbers from?
October 28th, 2009 at 5:49 PM
Well, there is a difference between storage and speed, when I say 1Mb doesn't mean 1MB per speed, read the page and do the counting.

PS: I will add the info to the post.

This guide really helps me a lot thnx guys for the infos and especially to Wissam who did search for the details. About madar I've read on some article, cant remember what site just pop out thru googling, that there upgrading their system in 4g I hope this would really be a good sign that would change the pace of internet connectivity here in Libya.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:12 PM
Oh Wissam, you're keeping adding amazing stuff here
really thank you.
I read that you're thinking abouth adding GPRS service, If so please don't forget our first Internet experience the Dialup ;( [Of course it isn't something one would like to remember].
October 28th, 2009 at 11:52 PM
Thanks, some people still use dial-up tho lol
October 28th, 2009 at 11:54 PM
I will add them together, thank you Kron.

Great Job Man

I don't think you get 15 gigs for wimax business. You should double check on that.
November 29th, 2009 at 12:28 AM
I think there is confusion in the comparison of prices, as for libyamax the monthly fees are included in the price of first time
what means, 220LD or 120LD for hardware and 40LD monthly and 2 months for free for new subscribers, I think the same thing for libyanet, i can make sure of it later, if you change the comparison by price of hardware and fees it will be much better
as for comparison of speed, Libyana has lied about libyanet, but the other speeds are almost true
the monthly bandwidth quota is the same for libyamax packages, i have wimax business with 10G
Thanks
